As I reflect back to the start of my rather short journey, I give myself a pat on my back for stepping up. Most of the time we just need a little push to get started and then the rest becomes history. I kept delaying this for so long that I was getting into a comfort zone of just eating whatever I could get my hands on. This would not only have bad effects now but leave a lasting impression for my future self.
I started off my diet with the help of the book "Always eat after 7" by Joel Marion and this book has not only helped me take a positive step forward in eating healthy but also in ways to live healthy. The diet allows you to eat almost everything but in proper portion moderation.
The book focuses on maintaining a schedule. Proper intake of higher protein and super carbs. The first phase of 14 days is called the acceleration phase and this helps in the max weight loss early on and helps build up a routine for the body to adapt to. The serving sizes are measured and you macro target the percentages of protein and carbs intake. There are a lot of simple meal plan options specified in the book which is helping me a lot in deciding my menu without having to juggle my mind alot.
The next phase is the main phase which starts at week 3. The body gets a much needed boost from the first phase and you feel lighter and much motivated to get going. This phase now lasts from now until whenever I reach my desired weight goal. You control your leptin levels with the help of super carbs which helps maintain a healthy nutrient level in the body. I also get a cheat day every week which is so great. Again there are sample meal plans giving for this phase as well which are very useful.
Hoping I make good progress in the coming days and see the last phase soon which is the Lifestyle phase.
This is the phase which is now a new norm for your life. Maintaining this weight and eating habits. Most of the time you reach your desired weight and then get relaxed and put on all the weight back with a few more to add. The cycle keeps on going. Its time to break this cycle and think about living a healthy lifestyle for your better future.
