Nascar weekend at Cabarrus county

How would you like if I made you envision your weekend getaway consisting of some historic views of the city and an adrenaline rush of car race. The combination sure is fun and which is why Cabarrus county is a must visit. Just 20 mins drive from Charlotte, this county is known as "where racing lives".
Cabarrus is the county which encompasses five municipalities: the cities of Concord and Kannapolis, and towns of Harrisburg, Midland and Mt. Pleasant.
It houses the Charlotte Motor Speedway and you can experience a number of motor sports here. With everything so close by and so very convenient as a tourist, this city easily became a family favorite.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte/Concord Golf Resort & Spa which was right across from the Charlotte Motor Speedway and a mile or two away from major shopping and retail stores. Concord mills is the state's largest outlet which was just 1.7 miles from the hotel making it so convinient and saving us ton of time to explore the area. The hotel was really nice with clean rooms and complimentary breakfast. I was extremely impressed with the breakfast spread. You can get made to order omelet and a buffet of items including roasted potatoes, sausage, pancakes, cereals, biscuit, toast, fruits, flavored yogurt, muffins etc. I mean the list is literally long. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Few notable places to visit in the city were-

Concord mills
Concord Mills is the largest outlet and value retail shopping destination in North Carolina. There are more then 200 stores all under a climate controlled roof so you need not worry about the weather while you relax and shop. Other then the stores and dining options they also have a 24 Screen AMC/IMAX Theatre, Sea Life Aquarium, Dave & Busters and The Speedpark!

Kannapolis downtown
This is a newly renovated downtown with new local businesses, spacious streetscapes, public art and more along the West Avenue District. The Atrium ballpark is a great place to chill with you family and it is also home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and Dale Earnhardt Tribute Plaza.

Cabarrus downtown
This has a more charming small city feel with local restaurants, breweries, and shops including Goldberry Books, The Bead Lady, ShoeBeeDo, The Basement Arcade Bar, and more.

Charlotte Motor Speedway
The complex features a 1.5 mi (2.4 km) quad oval track that hosts NASCAR racing including the prestigious Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend, and the Bank of America Roval 400.
It was my family's first time attending the Nascar race and we enjoyed was an understatement. It's amazing to see the races upfront and hearing the fans cheering for their racer. It was a glorious game and will definitely be a start for us to watch more in future.
