A weekend getaway at Dunwoody, GA

Just when you thought Atlanta couldn't be any cooler, you find some hidden gems and fall in love with the city all over again.

Dunwoody is a city near Atlanta which is an urban center for dining and premier shopping. Though the city is comparatively new and wasn't recognized as an official city until 2008, the residents have been indentifying it as one since ages.

I had the opportunity to partner with Discover Dunwoody to experience the holiday season at it's best.

We checked in at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center which is located in the heart of the city within stonethrow distance from all the shopping and dining places including the Perimeter mall. You can even see the Marta train running near the hotel. The interior is nice and chic with the friendliest staff.
I absolutely loved the room which was very spacious. I was at the 17th floor which is the top floor and the view of the I285 was amazing. I could see the downtown from a distance as well. Being a room on top floor the ceiling was high giving it an even more open feel. The room was clean and sanitized with hand sanitizer kept for our personal use as well.
You can check out my room tour below.

We went for our scrumptious lunch at the famous Breadwinner cafe. It has been featured on the Food Network, Today Show, and as one of Oprah’s “Favorite Things,”.

After our lunch we headed out the Perimeter mall. We had the most amazing picture with santa. They had done a great job social distancing and keeping everyone safe. The lines were maintained and santa himself was wearing a mask.

We then checked out our favorite Disney store and their new merchandise with all the holiday themed items.

Right across was lolli and pops and they have the yummiest gummies. I love that they have vegan gummies as well.

Then this mommy got some me time at Sephora while dad entertained the kids by the sofas outside.

We then checked out the Spruill art gallery. They have some really nice handmade items. The Spruill Gallery, located in an historic 1867-1905 home on Ashford Dunwoody Road, mounts four to six exhibitions each year in a variety of mediums. The Gallery’s exhibits promote emerging artists, established artists and the artwork created at the Education Center. Year-round, the Spruill Gallery has one of the best locally-made artists’ gift shops in metro Atlanta.

After all the fun we headed for dinner at the Royal spice indian cuisine. As I am from India, the food was like home. I liked all the dishes and also the safety precautions taken there with social distancing with the help of plexi glass between tables. If you like Indian food then this would be a great place to check out.

To end our Saturday night we finally headed to Brooke run park to see their holiday lights. My kids really enjoyed every moment of it. The lights were spread out like a trail and it was a great weather for it too.
Obviously then we directly headed back to our hotel which was thankfully super close as we were super tired after all the fun we had that day.

Sunday was a funday since I slept in for a while. Haha. We checked out by 12 (luckily this was their check out time) and headed straight for brunch at Alon's bakery and market. This award winning bakery truely deserves it. The ambience is super cozy and so inviting. There are freshly baked cakes, bread, pastries etc found here. They have hot and cold brunch items available and a variety to choose from too.
I cannot wait to go back to Alon's. I would definitely recommend stopping by here if you ever visit Atlanta or nearby.

We then ended our day with a nice stroll at the Dunwoody nature center which is a non profit organization established by volunteers in 1990. It has some really nice and short trails for families with picnic table and an elaborate playground for kids to enjoy.
