Disneyland During the Holidays

Imagine seeing your kids experience Disneyland all decked out for wintertime holidays. Instead of just getting more toys that they’ll eventually outgrow, why not take a vacation you can always look back on fondly? With the help of my friends at Get Away Today, I have all the details you need to know if you plan on visiting Disneyland during the holidays.

Disneyland During the Holidays - Dates

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort begin November 8, 2019. The decor, ride overlays, special events and seasonal food will stick around until January 6, 2020. During that time, the Resort feels transformed with an extra sprinkling of holiday magic! Be sure to refer to the Disneyland app before and during your holiday vacation; it will keep you updated regarding parade times, fireworks shows and where you can find your favorite Disney Characters dressed in their holiday best.

Disneyland During the Holidays - Ride Overlays

Did you know that in Disneyland during the holidays you’ll find temporary ride overlays? Some of your favorite, classic rides undergo changes to reflect the spirit of the season, making them feel like a brand-new experience. Here’s a look at what ride overlays you’ll find in Disneyland during the holidays.

Disneyland Park

  • Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty Castle: While not technically a ride, the Castle walk through is an experience you can have at Disneyland. During the holidays, the facade gets a beautiful makeover in the form of twinkling lights, glittering icicles, fluffy wreaths, ribbons and more. It makes for a festive backdrop for those iconic Disneyland Castle photos.
  • “it’s a small world” Holiday: Much like the Castle, this attraction gets a new look for the season. The exterior is covered with lights, and the ride inside features holiday music in addition to the “it’s a small world” tune.
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday: Did you know Haunted Mansion recently turned 50? It’s been a big year for this Disneyland attraction! During the holidays, the Mansion continues the tradition of getting decorated to celebrate. You may think The Nightmare Before Christmas crew only specializes in Halloween, but when you tour the Mansion during Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, you’ll see their holiday handiwork.

Disney California Adventure Park

  • Mator’s Jingle Jamboree: Mator’s been busy, and you can enjoy his hard work at his junkyard. He’s decorated his attraction and gotten his tractors into the spirit of the holidays at Disneyland Resort! Take a ride at Mator’s to the sound of holiday-themed music.
  • Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl: This ride gets a new look and sound for the holidays. Luigi sings some new songs to celebrate this time of year, all while his roadsters take a whirl on the dance floor. Ride and sing along with him!
  • Meet Santa on Redwood Creek Challenge Trail: Beginning November 8 - December 24, 2019 guests can find Santa at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Holiday decor will spruce up this attraction, making it feel like a whole new experience. Santa leaves on Christmas Eve to make deliveries, and that’s when another Disney Character steps in to take his place. In years past it’s been Goofy, so check it out for yourself and say hello.

Disneyland During the Holidays - Seasonal Events

It seems there is always a fun celebration happening at Disneyland Resort, and the holidays are no exception. Disneyland during the holidays offers additional parades, firework shows, food festivals and more.

Disneyland Park

  • A Christmas Fantasy Parade: Main Street, U.S.A. comes to life with a festive parade. Featuring floats, larger-than-life toys and Disney Characters in fancy holiday outfits, you’re sure to be delighted! Santa even makes an appearance in the parade.
  • “Believe...In Holiday Magic” Fireworks Show: Above Sleeping Beauty’s Castle you can catch a magical firework show. Enjoy the light projections, holiday music and falling snow.
  • “it’s a small world” Holiday Lighting: Each evening, this attraction will feature periodic light shows. Every 30 minutes or so you’ll be positively dazzled!

Disney California Adventure Park

Hosted by the Three Caballeros, you’ll celebrate the holidays alongside Donald, Panchito and JosĂ©. Dance along to mariachi and samba music, take in the grace and energy of the folklĂłrico dancers and stand back as giant puppets and floats make their way through Paradise Gardens.
    • Festive Foods Marketplace: As part of the Festival of Holidays, you can experience flavors from around the world in the Marketplace. There will be 12 food vendors offer Latin-American inspired cuisine, ranging from small bites to meals and desserts.
